I have a connection string that bypasses the entry of password and UID on opening. Bu

This is the string I have used.
strConnectionString = "ODBC;DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=xxxxx,xxx;DATABASE=xxx;Trusted_Conn ection=No;UID=xxxx;PWD=xxxx"

The trusted connection is automatically checked and goes for windows credential on opening and then fails on attempt.

Try removing the Trusted_Connection=No; section. I don't believe that you need it if you are providing the UID and PWD fields.
