Linked table in BE Database

I have 3 databases. Front End, Back End & Control.

The back End Db as a table (Computers) linked into it from the Control DB

When linking the tables to the FE, the list of tables does not include the linked table (Computers)

Is this normal?

Hi

I tried this just once many years ago and, as you said, it does not show up. So I assume you cannot link to a linked table, which sort of makes sense. So, when I need to, I have linked directly ever since.

But if you can link indirectly I would be interested to know.

Daisy-chaining the linked tables, AFAIK, isn't possible and from a security standpoint could be a nightmare if one of the databases resided on/in a location with elevated privileges.

In the end, I found that I had to link both the table "Computers" from the Control database and Table "Branch" from the BE database into the FE database. I could then establish a relationship, but was unable to enforce referential integrity.
