Displaying Records in X Rows and X Columns on a form

While I have found a temporary solution by using multiple subforms, it makes the coding a bit wonky as each subform must filter from the preceding subforms. (At least in the way I was able to do it. What I am trying to accomplish is this: At work we are using a daily manning database with basic Employee info (name, photo, certifications) to make sure we have enough people at work. The reason why I am using a form is so that the boss can click on a photo or name, if someone calls out, and remove them from the daily roster. Essentially I want the form to place the records in 6 Columns and 5 Rows for easier display on one screen. So the form would look something like this.

Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo
Name Name Name Name Name Name

Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo
Name Name Name Name Name Name

Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo
Name Name Name Name Name Name

Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo
Name Name Name Name Name Name

Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo Photo
Name Name Name Name Name Name

I have done a lot of research and a lot of trial and error to get this to work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Where/how are your Photos stored? I think this will determine the how you go about finding a solution. Are they stored in your database or is the FilePath to the Photo stored in the Database with the Photos stored as Files on a Hard drive somewhere?

Hopefully, just the FilePath to the Photo file is stored in the database. If so, you could place 30 Image Controls and Labels on a Form and then create a routine Opens a RecordSet and stuffs the FilePath location of the Photo into the Image Control's Picture Property. This is easier than it sounds.

If the Photos are stored in the Database, I would first consider moving them out of the Database. If you can't move the Photos out, then you will probably need to create a SubForm with an Image Control that is Bound to Photo and then build a Filter for each SubForm so that it only shows the Record that your interested in. I've never done this (well not in 20 years) as it's usually not a good idea to put images into a database if at all possible.

There is a third option that is a hybrid of these two, where SubForms are used and the Image Control is bound to the Path of the Image. But that is really most beneficial if you want images to display on a Continuous Form. This article is an example of doing this: Display an Image on a Report using OnCurrent Event?
