Can't select a list box item in Access 2013

Why can't my list box allow me to select an item from the list? It's based on a simple query with the table ID field in a hidden column in column one and an expression in column two which string concatenates a few name fields into a full name. The list box looks great but won't allow me to select anything.

That could depend on a number of things Amelia, most of which you haven't shared here with us.
  1. Exactly how is "Not allowing you to select anything" showing to you?
  2. Is the control bound to a field that is disallowed from containing the data you're trying to assign to it?
  3. Is the correct column of data the one you actually want?
These are some of the questions you need to look at first. If none help then consider including more information about the problem so we have a chance to try and help.

Amelia37 here. I solved my problem. First, to answer your first question, I the list box did not "highlight" anything when I clicked on it. And I used VBA to verify that nothing was selected in the list box. Answer: the form was corrupted. I created a new form and put the same list box on it and had not problems selecting. Thank you so much for your time in reading and responding to my question. It had me really at wit's end.

Corrupted objects can be very frustrating. I agree. It often takes hours of frustrating consideration of the problem before trying out the idea of redoing it from scratch.

Well done for finding the solution on your own anyway :-)
