Filtering Combobox row source to include existing selection

I've got a strange problem. I'm using cascading combobox filtering, however, when I change the filter, it makes the current selection not show in the combobox even though there is a record. The combobox just shows blank. Is there a way to filter the recordset so that the WHERE clause is set to be based on the cascading comboboxes or current value?

I'm sure there is Seth, and I'm happy to help if I can, but your question is so non-specific I have very little idea even what your problem is.

There is great skill involved in expressing questions clearly in words. You clearly have the intelligence to do so. I encourage you to put your mind to it. The rewards are not inconsiderable.

BTW. Please take this as encouragement rather than as criticism. I believe you will benefit greatly from directing your attention towards better expression of your ideas through a difficult medium.

Lets see how I can explain better. I have a subform in continuous form view that has my combo box that lists all classes offered. On the main form I have a combo box that can filter the classes based on their type. So lets say that I have filtered it by Music classes and made a selection of Music Theory, but then I change my filter to be Education. This would cause my classes combo box to become blank. Instead I want it to show all Education classes plus the Music Theory class that I had previously selected.

I'm picturing something that has the WHERE clause having the classID field equals selected value, but since I'm in a continuous form with potentially multiple selections made, I'm not sure how to do this.

Does this make more sense?

As I keep looking at it, I don't think that it is possible because of the continuous form to make it work the way that I want to, so I have worked around it by deleting the previous records when the filter gets changed. Thanks for looking at it anyway.

I had looked Seth, but was still struggling with time and a few ambiguities in your explanation.

Without a full understanding of your situation I would venture to guess that what you want is possible. Not necessarily straightforward, but (probably) possible.

That you've worked around it seems sensible, and certainly simplifies matters. Simple is most often a good thing I find.

Anyway, good luck going forwards and don't be shy about asking for help if required.
