Ranking

I came accross an MS Excel Formula:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. =SUMPRODUCT(1*(COUNTIF(OFFSET(A1;;;ROW(A1:A4)-ROW(A1)+1);A1:A4)=1)*(A1:A4>=A1))
I want to understand how it works? And is it possible to be applicable in MS Access someway?
Thanking in anticipation

There is no direct conversion from this Excel formula to Access. However, there is a way to create a ranking in Access. See Ranking Queries in MS Access.

Excel worksheet functions, as well as all other Excel objects and methods, are available in Access. To get Intellisense you will need to register the library but it should be available as late-bound without that even.

However!

The particular function you refer to takes Excel ranges as its parameters. As such, though it could be used in Access, it could only ever work with data held in Excel. I doubt that would offer you much TBF.
