Report displays Sum of Group wrongly

14
Hi all,

I've got a strange problem with report of Access. Hope that some of you experienced this before & can help me out.

I've a table & make a select query to filter data. With that query I created a report (& here comes the problem !!!)

In my report, I need to make 2 levels of Group. Problem is when viewing the Sum of the 1st Group (i.e Sum(VND)), it's obviously wrong by missing a tiny amount (in attached image, it should be 27,207,103,000 i/o 27,207,102,720 as shown in MS Access report).

I tried using the Wizard report but it also show the same wrong figures !!!

Hope that some of you know the cause of this & help me. Thks.

Your JPY is also off by 4.

My only thought is that these are calculated fields in the query? And, perhaps you are applying a format to the numbers. Then, when Access adds these numbers, it uses the original values--not the formatted/rounded numbers.

This can happen, from time to time. You have to be very careful when displaying and adding numbers.

Hope this hepps!

Thanks twinnyfo.
In fact, these are numeric fields only. I just get back to the table & found out some records were not rounded numbers.
I think this is the cause of my problem & I need to re-check the whole table.
One more experience for myself, guy.
Thanks for your advice.

namktkt,

In my experience, Access reports are very reliable in grouping/summing functions, so when I see numbers that are off by just a smidge, I assume that there has to be something with the underlying values, rather than the report/function itself.

Yes, as your experience grows, you'll see things more clearly. you'll also find more complicated ways to be dumbfounded!

Have a great day!

:-)
