Report print preview missing subreport data

I have a report that pulls data correctly, but within the report is a subreport that is not showing up. If I open the report in layout view, the subrepot information is there but it doesn't print.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Where in the parent report is the subreport located?

The subreport is in the footer section with the actual footer.

Parent Report footer?
Parent Page footer?

The subreport is in the page footer.

I'm going to assume that you mean the Parent Report page footer.

Just to troubleshoot, please pull the subreport from the PageFooter and drag it into the Parent Details section.

I moved the subreport into the details section of the parent report with the same result. The informaion is available in layout preview, but not print preview. I have even tried removing and reinserting the subreport.

It's possible that your subreport isn't set to be visible...
design view
There's a little square in the corner of the subreport
Right-click on that square, propertes.
[All]![Visible]=true
[All]![Can Grow] = yes
[All]![Display When] = Always
Close

Right-Click on the small square in the corner of the parent report and properties.
There is a dropdown list above the tabs.
Select the entry in this list that matches where the subreport is sitting (ie details or PageHeaderSection ... note that you may have to scroll depending on how your report is setup)
[All]![Visible]=true
[All]![Can Grow] = yes
[All]![Display When] = Always

In my case, I've a report where the subreports are sitting in the PageHeaderSection, each under a group header; thus, I have to check the PHS and the GH and the subreports and double check these settings in each section.

I have checked the visible, can grow, and display when properties for the report, the page footer, and the subreport itself and they are all correct. If I print the subreport by itself the data appears but not when it's part of the complete report.

Do you have an code associated with the report?
Does the report open correctly in print-preview?
Jul 30 '14 #10
There is lots of code to build the report but none of it has been changed. It was built by a consultant and there are only two people with access to the interworkings. It worked for months, but now it has mysteriously stopped working. The rest of the report prints just fine.

Then I suspect that there is an issue in the code.

In PRINT-PREVIEW, do the SUB-REPORTS, show correctly?
Jul 30 '14 #12
If I print-preview the subreport by itself, the information is all there. If I print-preview the parent report, the information is all there EXCEPT the sub-report.

There are actually 2 sub-reports. One prints fine the other doesn't.

- not to upset you; however, are you sure nothing has changed?
- do you have a backup copy of the database that you can review and see if the issue is there too?

The reason I'm double checking is because I had something like this happen and it turned out that a manager had altered the report and didn't realize that there was code behind the subreports that checked for the items that were deleted. Of course, "nothing" was changed. (^_^)

Thankfully, I keep backups of the production and development front-ends and simply "rolled" the report back to the prior version from the backup.

I do keep backup copies. I will comb through the code between the two. Thank you!
