Memo File Truncates when in a formula

P: 1
I have a Query that uses an IIF statement
Description: IIf([SYSADM_R_PR_CR]![PROJECT_NAME]="Change Request",[SYSADM_R_PR_CR]![CR_CHANGE_DESCRIPTION],[SYSADM_R_PR_CR]![CR_PROPOSED_CHANGES])

Both fields [SYSADM_R_PR_CR]![CR_CHANGE_DESCRIPTION] and [SYSADM_R_PR_CR]![CR_PROPOSED_CHANGES] are memo fields and will return correctly individually but in this IIF statement they return as a Text field and truncate to 255 characters

bardellp,

First, welcome to Bytes!

This is a limitation of using Memo Fields in Queries. When you try to manipulate memo fields in Queries, they always truncate to 255 characters.

There may be a way to have both field in the Query, and then adjust how your Form or Report uses those fields. There are several options that could be available, depending on how you are using this query.
