Problem trying to access MSWord 2013

489 256MB
I have a gal that has Windows 8.1 and download the office 2013, it looks like it installed as an app. Now my application which is developed in Access 2007 will not open MSWord from within my program. When my application tries to open the MSWord I get a message about this program not registered. When I find MSWord in the windows 8.1 side it's not called MSWord but Wordicon although if I start the word and open the file I usually call in my application it comes up just fine and I can do the mail merge and everything else. I don't know if this makes any sense. But any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm with ADezii on this one as this file is often a target. I'm surprised that such an old virus was able to get into the Windows8.1-OS.

Boot to safe mode: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ding-safe-mode
Once in safemode, un-install Office.
Reboot back into safemode
Go thru your files and delete Wordicon.exe files.
Do a COLD reboot (power-off, count to 60 power-up)
Now you should get something like Lavasoft Adaware http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
They have a free version of the software, install, update and run this version.
Reboot.
Re-install office.

If it requires more than this to get you back on the right path, you'll need to visit one of the forums where there are people/experts with more knowledge.

BE MORE CAREFUL WHICH FILES YOU OPEN IN THE FUTURE!
Either at work or at home, I always scan my email attachments and other downloads before opening them with a reliable antivirus.

I am not 100% sure but I do believe that Wordicon.exe is a Virus!
