Split cell content into multiple columns

Hi all, I am attempting to use Access 2010 to split out a single cell with multiple variable data points. For example it may contain[ Fork x 2, Spoon x 3, Knife ]
There may be up to 7 entries, with quantities, but where there is only one, it does not have a "x " designation. End result must be example in columns: [ Item ][ Quantity 1 ] [ Item 2 ] [ Quantity 2 ] etc....

Please help, I am still learning Access 2010, but this is above me at the moment!

FAJACOBS,
Please read thru the following - it will give you a kickstart:
Enhanced Split Function for Text Parsing - Office 2000
You should also look at the basic split function.

As for returning columns.
You are not clear as to how you need this returned... table, report, printout, etc...
If you are needing a table then this more than likely will violate the rules for "normalization" ( read about that here: > Database Normalization and Table Structures. )
