Unable to upload data in Probe from MS Access

Hi There,

I am trying to upload a data to Probe through MS Access.
Its uploads fine and than ask for the append query to run.
But when the query is running or is in progress it comes up with "Some error occurred – You cannot record your changes because a value you entered violates the setting defined for the table or list.."

Could you please help in getting this error resolved?

Thanks,
Hardy

It is hard to help without knowing your data or any part of your design. Just looking at the error message tells me that the data you are uploading probably isn't going in the field that you think it is resulting in text trying to go into a number field or something similar. What I usually try when this happens to me is to try uploading just first (farthest left) column making sure that it is populating the column that I expect it to. If this suceeds, then try the first two columns. Keep going until you get the error and then you will know which column is causing the problem.

Seth pretty much has the correct answer.

Also as Seth mentioned, more detail is required.
Including the EXACT error title, number and text. Generic error messages are sometimes misleading as there are several such with similar texts; however, entirely different contexts.

Now, I have a background wherein working in a laboratory, I have several "offline" instruments that we upload information from them to an a database:
One case was a primary key violation (the instrument reset to "1" each time).
Another was (as Seth alludes to) a type mis-match (string in the instrument, numeric in the database)

...and so forth.

Having that exact error message would help us determine which of these have occured.

I however, you are trying to go from Access to the Instrument there may be a whole other issue! That will require that we have access to the operator's manuals and so forth... Instead, I would suggest that you contact the manufacture.
