Is there a way to see who is currently working in the database (2003 version)?

I was wondering if there is a way to see who is currently in the database? It would be really helpful especially when I need to do an update or make changes.

Is the database split in a frontend (Client) and a backend(server)?

You can look at the lock file. But it's not always accurate. Sometimes it will say someone is in there when they're not.
