Select First Record in access table

1
I have a table with over a thousand record. Each record contains specific information about the project, and that many are repeated from year to year with new entries until the finish. The question is how to extract from the table all year records with the first appearance in the report. With the "first" command in a query doesn't work. Thanks

Basically, you find the minimum date represented in the table (I assume you have a date field in there. The question would be a stupid one if there is not even a date field to compare). When you have that date value you use the year part of that and filter the table on that. Any records whose year value matches the filter are from the first year.
