Saving

Access wont save any changes I make - its been working fine - the data etc is being captured - and the changes are there after I make them - but when I close - it refuses to close - it asks if I want to save changes - I select yes - but nothing happens - its affecting any changes i make to lay out - or adding open links - it refuses to save - the only way I can get out is to do control alt delete and then when i reopen its gone - the form or query is still there but its not showing on the page

Hi
It sounds like you might have a file read-only problem.
Are you running on a network share or the hard drive on a stand alone PC?
What version of Access and Windows are you using?
Have you just copied the system off a CD? (I think in XP the Read Only flag was set when saving to a CD and had to be un-set when the file was copied to a different hard-drive)

I will presume you are working on an 'mdb' database and not an 'mde', else you would not be able to get into Design mode?
Do you have a split frontend/backend set-up?
I'm out of ideas!

Good thinking S7. I imagine it may be possible to see this behaviour with an MDE or ACCDE file though. Design changes can be made by code even when an object is opened for viewing normally (EG. Filter properties, etc).
