How do I Ensure Value is Entered Before Proceeding

Hi- was wondering which validation I would use so that a booking form will not continue the booking process unless it has been entered.

Look at the Validation Rule property of the control.

If you really want the check at table level (Normally the case) then look at the Required property of the relevant field.

Say if you want to validate a field to see if it is NULL or blank, try the following:

If IsNull([Text Field]) = True Or [Text Field] = "" Then
   DoCmd.CancelEvent
   Msgbox "Error.  You must enter data.", vbCritical, "Invalid Data!"
   Exit Sub

   'Do whatever else you want - open/close the form, etc.
End If

You can use code similar to the that shown in the prior post if you enclose it within an Event procedure. Typically, the BeforeUpdate event procedure of the control you want to validate :

Private Sub XXX_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)

However, instead of using DoCmd.CancelEvent one simply says Cancel = True.
