Open scanned document from access form

I have query that is displaying a scanned document path that I am pulling from an sql database:
Path: Simmons\dfs\scanned\MIS\FirmDB\FileStore\TrialTeam \MedicalPathology\jtvlrzec.jmw.pdf
I am linking to this query in Access and want to display this path on a form in Access so the user can click on the link and open the PDF.
I can see the path in my field on the form, but when I click on the path it does not open the pdf.
The path is not stored in a table in access, It is only availalbe through the odbc link to the query in the sql database.

That's not a fully qualified path.

What that means in real terms is that the path resolved would be relative to the current folder. EG. If the current folder were "F:\My Documents\Databases\Bytes", then the folder where it would look to find the file would actually be "F:\My Documents\Databases\Bytes\Simmons\dfs\scanned\MIS\ FirmDB\FileStore\TrialTeam \MedicalPathology\". I doubt this is what you were expecting or intended.

if I copy and paste this into my windows explorer: \\simmons\dfs\scanned\MIS\FirmDB\FileStore\TrialTe am\MedicalPathology\I see a list of files, with one of them being: 5rqrtvbp.d3i.pdf, the one I need to open.

And that's a perfect illustration of the difference between a fully qualified path (in post #4) and one that isn't (in post #1). Well done. You understand now.
