So you're saying that the original table contains just bytes.com, but after the export you open up the Excel file and it shows as #bytes.com#?

Are you using VBA code to accomplish this export?

I just tried to reproduce your problem but cannot. When I make a list of websites in a table and export it using

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel, "tblWebSites", "C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\tblWebSites.xlsx"

...I get exactly what I expect in the output Excel file. It seems like there's something else going on here that I cannot discern from the information you're giving.

So, we have a question essentially :
Why is my code introducing hash (#) characters into the Excel output?

But no code included :-S

Perhaps it would be a good idea at this point to include the code that you're using which exhibits this behaviour.
