Autopopulate Linked Field for Subform

I have a form with General Information that has a button control to open a separate form based on the linked field being equal. The main form shows Gerneric DOT informtion; when I click on the "Landowner" button it opens the Landowner form (datasheet or continuous forms view) and shows all the landowners associated with the DOT # field on the main form. (The linked fields are both DOT #). When I add a new landowner, I would like this DOT # field (on the landowner form) to autopopulate with the current DOT # field from the main form. I am so close to finishing this - any suggestions?

Set the Default Value of the [DOT#] Field on the Landowner Form to the Value of the [DOT#] Field on the Main Form, as in:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. 'Default Value Property of [DOT#] on the Landowner Form:
  2. [Forms]![Generic DOT Form]![DOT#]
