Cannot add fields to a table

When I try to add a field to my tables, I am suddenly getting an error message saying: "Operation is not supported for this kind of object." I get the same error messge regardless of which table or whic type of field I am trying to add. This error just seemed to happen overnight, I've had no trouble making these kind of changes before. Any suggestions welcome!

Aha, seems that one of the changes when upgrading to Access 2010 is that you can no longer add new fields in Design View, only in Datasheet View. Who'd have guessed. Wish I'd never upgraded, all sorts of problems with creating replicas and resolving conflicts! Thanks agaon for trying to help!

Is your database file suddenly read-only?

Otherwise, you provide too little information to work with.

No, it's not showing as Read Only in the attributes in the Properties box. Not sure what other information to provide sorry!

Try renaming the file when it's closed from Windows Explorer.

I'm afraid I can't tell you what other information is important without knowing what's going on. Sorry.

Aha, now it think's it's a replica. Could something have changed when I upgraded to Access 2010 (from 2007) and now it doesn't recognise it as the Master file?

No idea. I'm still using 2003 and have no experience with replicas as yet.

Did you determine if the file were read-only?

No, it's not showing as Read Only in the property attributes. Thanks for trying to help!
