Opening 2nd database speeds print report by 3 x

I am building a database for a friend with subreports embedded in the main reports to add needed detail. Print time has more than tripled in the past month(from 4 seconds up to 18 seconds).

When we open a 2nd copy of the database (an older version) the newer one then prints fast again. I have no idea why this is happening. We are running MS Access 2003over a small server based network. OS is Win7.

Any insigts would be appreciated. Thans.
