I have about 120 items to display per report page. Is it possible to display it alphabetically in 4 columns across a page. Ie it start in first columns with first item from the top of page to the bottom, then it continues in the second column from top to bottom etc etc.- see the format below
aaa fff kkk ppp
bbb ggg lll qqq
ccc hhh mmm rrr
ddd iii nnn sss
eee jjj ooo ttt

i use access 2007.

You'll have to pivot your data. Probably using a mod 4 or integer division of 7 on the ascii of the first character in the string.

This should be a simple case of configuring your report to display in columns. The design of the report is thus 1/4 of the width of the page, and the page setup sets it as four columns. The rest is done for you automatically.

Is that new? I don't remember being able to do that before. Although it has been a while since I've worked in Access. I'm guessing this would have to be done in a subreport if they also wanted a header and/or footer.

No. I used that on an Access 97 db some while ago. It's maybe not an obvious or easily noticed feature, but it's been there for a while.

Neels,
Is there some reason why you are not doing as suggested in post #3. This doesn't seem too complicated to me. It does exactly what you asked for, and easily with little or no fuss. If you're confused, it's easier to just say so than ignore it.

You were 100% correct. I was looking at the wrong place for the "page setup", and eventually found it with this other site.Your suggestion was spot on.
