Screen painting freezes in Access 2007/2010

My company has recently been upgrading all operating systems to Windows 7 and all MS Office products to the 2010 version.

I've managed to update/modify all code to run on both the .mdb and .accdb platform so that all business functions are operating normally. The one thing I can't seem to get to work normally is the screen painting in the .accdb environment.

The general gist is this:
When a process begins, a custom progress bar becomes visible on a form and disappears when the process is complete. In the .mdb environment, it works fine. In the .accdb environment, it starts out normally, but after about 10 seconds the screen painting stops and gives the impression that the code isn't running.

Does anyone have any idea why this occurs or how to overcome this?

Just as an update:
I inserted the DoEvents command right before the Repaint command and now it works beautifully. Actually better since you can move the focus to other applications and come back to access and still see the bar moving.
