How do I update a textbox after closing a query?

I have a text boxes that uses a Dcount functions that returns the number of signals in a table of signals based on there "status" field.

What I am doing is running a query on the signals and editing the "status" field of the signals to be either "good", "bad", or "defective". When I first open the my form, the test boxes has the correct values in them. when I run the query and change a signal status, the values in the text boxes do not change unless I either close/open the form again, or if i exit to design mode then back. I have been reading forums with similar questions but nothing is working. What I want is when I edit the status and close the query, I want the values in the text boxes to update.

Spent way too much time on this.....I need help!

Hi Cathy and welcome to Bytes.

If you are editing your query results directly in the query window (not through a Form), I dont think you can attach code to its close event. (This is assuming your running a SELECT query, and not an UPDATE query).

So 2 suggestions to proceed with:
  • Either change your forms recordsource to include the counting as a subquery or linked query if possible, then I think it should update automatically. (Not 100% sure)

  • Make a button on your form, with attached code to refresh the textboxes.
