O2010 - when I move a linked back-end, and re-link, the FE wont open?

Access 2010 - when I move a linked back-end (BE) (and re-link) the FE wont open? (unless the old BE remains in original location).

Is this a database you have created yourself, or that someone else have created?

If it is created by someone else, it is possible to create dataconnections entirely in code, without linking tables. I sometimes use that approach myself, If I dont want the linked tables to be visible in the database explorer window.

the database was a combined FE/BE. I split it, then copied the BE somewhere else, then re-linked the FE to the new location. Everything works great until I delete the old BE, then the FE wont open. There seems to be some residual linkage. I have tried importing, linking etc and nothing works.

That much was clear from your original post. However you didn't answer the question I asked you.
The reason I ask is because if you have properly re-linked your tables it should work. A cause for it not to work is what I have mentioned above, custom code.

So please answer the question, and we can proceed from there.

there is no code for this. there are no hidden tables, and I try open it using shift-key (negating any code anyway). When I try opening it, Access attempts to open then 'switches' to start new database mode (as if I opened Access directly).
If I put the original BE back where it was, all works well (and data is saved to the new linked location.

When you relinked, did you check all objects and check the option that says always prompt for new location?

Clive, you say you relinked the BE. How exactly did you do that, and did you test that it had worked reliably after you made the change(s)?
