I am building a fixed asset database and I would like to get some assistance in calculating depreciation.

Marsha McCarthy:
If i were to create an expression in the query (Cost * Dep rate) it will calculate the same amount each time. It is supposed to calculate the depreciation on the reduced balance...for example:
How is that? That doesn't make sense. If you have a field and multiply it by another field it MUST return the same result whenever the values are equal. You say you want the depreciation to be cumulative, but have you done anything in your design to ensure that's even possible? If you have then let us know what, because what you've said so far indicates you haven't the data to do this with a simple formula in your query.
