How to make MDE files smaller?

Making MDE file takes too long-
I tried compiling and also repair and compact already, then converted to 2003 format then tried to MDE but it's stuck/ takes too long. It's 440 KB. No error msg appears. What can be the problem?

Hi and welcome to BYTES.

Is the 440kb a typo? 440kb does not sound like alot, and I would expect that compact and repair would make little difference in most cases.

I got my problem already, I'm building controls dynamically and that cannot be made into mde file.

Do you have a reference for that information? It could be usefull for other people reading this post. I myself don't know whether or not its true.

I have noticed once though, that if the database is not compiled, specifically if it cannot compile due to errors, it cannot be made into a MDE.

It compiles and with no errors.
See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...ic-access-form
(http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/...ng-system.aspx confirms this by saying, "If you mean an adhoc report, you cannot create anything at runtime with an MDE, but you can run existing code to show or hide objects.")

Thank you!

Guess that also puts a hole in my plan to distribute my next application as a MDE, since I also create some controls at runtime.
