How to preserve alternate row shading in datasheet view with conditional formating?

I have a datasheet with alternate row shading and conditional formatting. Unfortunately when the conditional formatting returns true, I lose the alternate row shading for that control.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Does anyone know a fix?

What's a datasheet? I'm aware of no such object.

As for using CF with alternate row shading, I can only think that if you are intending to use the CF to set the background, then clearly you are overwriting any alternate row shading set. If the alternate row shading is important then I suggest you forego that option within the CF and set the background to transparent.

Sorry I was unclear in my explanation. I have a form which is opened in datasheet view, and defaults to alternate row shading. All good so far. However, I need to apply conditional formatting to the text only (i.e. change color and bold). The conditional formatting works fine, but it also sets the background to white. This happens whether or not I set the background to transparent. See attached file for visual example.

It is because I think the conditional also sets a fill colour. I will look into it some more and see if I can get it to work.

I couldn't get it to work in Datasheet view but you will have better luck in continuous form view.

If you really need to stick with the datasheet view then Stephen Lebans has a long convaluted way of changing alternate rows for pre AC2007 versions. With some modifications I think you could get it to work just for the conditions you want and not for alternating rows. Here is the link http://www.lebans.com/conditionalformatting.htm

I tried to look into this for you, but couldn't find any reference to Alternate Row Shading. Is this possibly a version specific feature? Possibly introduced after Access 2003 (which is the version I'm using)?

@NeoPa - the built-in alternate row shading was introduced in A2007 as you thought.
