How to automatically have todays date as the default for a field in a form?

I have a form to create a new record, and when I open it I would like it to already have todays date displayed in the field. I am not quite sure how do that because I am not experienced in VB code.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Don't worry no VB code is required. For the field in question just set the default value to the following.

= Date()
