Upon opening database, encounter error messages: What do they mean?

sickenhoofer
There is no error name, but reads as follows:
"Microsoft Office Access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state, and will attempt to recover the database. During this process, a backup copy of the database will be made and all recovered objects will be placed in a new database. Access will then open the new database. The names of objects that were not successfully recovered will be logged in the 'Recovery Errors' table."

When clicking 'OK', a second error message box appears, which states, "The database <database path> can't be repaired or isn't a Microsoft Access database file.

A third box appears when clicking okay to the message box above. "the MS Office Access database engine could not find the object 'MSysDb'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly."

I'm getting a bad feeling on this one. Does this mean it is gone?

It does not look good.
Create a blank database, and try to import one of the table into it. If that works, then you can import all the tables into that new database.

What version are you using?

If 2007 then I used to get this all the time and lost the databases until the latest service packs came out. SO if 2007 make sure you have the last SP installed.

cheers,

Looks like this database is toast . . My attempts (and attempts by our IT staff) failed.

Luckily, we had a nearly finished new database that had been on the back burner in waiting. Took me all day yesterday to complete it, but it is up and running.

THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU FOR YOUR HELP!! I really appreciate it.
