App With 2007 Runtime Won't Find Data File on Client's PC

Working in XP with Access 2007. I create a distribution package of my 2003 MDB front end, include 2007 Runtime and load it on client's VISTA. I put the back end in C:/ - same as on my XP. The package works on my computer, but gives a runtime error (no number codes) when the user attempts to see data on theirs. The front end loads okay. Is there a registry entry I'm missing on the client?

It might be the user does not have access rights to the C: root. I see that problem a lot in networks where the logins implement security policies from the domain server.

Jim,

Do you have any suggestion(s) to bypass this kind of problem? I'm also curious to know as well :D

It's hard to say anything definitively, not knowing anything about the organization and security needs and so on. I suspect I know how to do what you need, but I can't say if you should do that or not. Who manages the IT security there? Perhaps they should be involved.

If you're on a domain, user rights are granted from the server. If you're on a peer-to-peer or not even on a network, then you can just do that locally. Just right-click on the folder or drive (in My Computer) and go to properties. You'll have an option for security properties ... you can give read/write/execute rights to individual users, or groups or everyone.
