What would prevent the back-end file from showing in runtime?

I have successfully split a database I created in Access 07 on the shared file. The front-end can be viewed in runtime but,the back-end can not. Also, the back-end is not locking. The message I get is that the file is in use but, I am the only one using it. Please forgive my lack of knowledge I am new to database experience.

A runtime only user would have no purpose in getting into the back-end. There should be only one entry point for such a user, the front-end, where menus will lead them through their available processes.

I have to question your initial statement, "I have successfully split a database I created ". Are you saying that you can run forms, queries, and reports successfully after splitting the database? If so, you need install only the front-end on the other workstations (unless you intend for everyone to have their own private copy of the back-end data).

After you have installed the front-end on another workstation, is that workstation able to run any forms, queries or reports? If not, it could be that your back-end has not been placed in a network resource available to everyone.

My Response:

Yes, you can run the front-end in runtime just fine.
I am handing this database off to a different administrator and thought if I placed the back-end
on the shared file they would be able access the file to
make changes as well as add security. Am I going about this incorrectly? Once, again I an very new to the access runtime experience.
