Network access Interrupted Error - Access 2007 on Vista

Using quite a simple Access DBase across the network I occasionally get this error:
Your network access was interrupted.
To continue, close the database, and then open it again
The dbase is split with front ends on user's PC's and a back end on the shared drive. This has happened to me whilst editing and backing up the back end of the database and to one other user. She was using the front end copy on the shared drive instead of her PC though.

What could be causing this? The dbase has been corrupted once so far because of it. Destroying one of the tables. Thankfully I had backups.

Probably this question would be better answered in the Networking forum.

However, I have had some troubles in the past with this being caused by network cards going to sleep. It had something to do with power saving firmware. I think we updated the firmware of the network cards and the problem went away.

Thanks Jim, but I can ping the file server no problem and no packets are lost.

Yes, but maybe that wakes up the network card. We were pulling our hair out about our problem for a very long time. Since the firmware update, all the problems disappeared.
