Why do my dates show as "#ERROR"?

I have a split database, which was functioning fine at close of business yesterday. This morning, all date fields show "#ERROR", and moving from one record to the next gives the following pop-up error (typed precisely as it appears):

Cannot open database ". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.

I have tried restoring the backup I made last night, but I get the same error. I also tried making a non-significant change in the front end so I could save it, hoping that would "refresh" something in it.

I am at a complete loss as to what's happened. Any suggestions will be most welcome!

You have two options. Delete the linked table in the table view from your front end. Or probably better, create an empty database file and link the tables from your back end using File->Get External Data->Link Tables (in access 2003 by the way... I don't know what you use.)

What about the back end? Does it work properly?

Yes, the back end is fine.

That is recomforting then...
I am not sure what you mean by restoring the backup but have you tried to relink the front end?
Also I would recomment doing a compact and repair on the back end before relinking.

I did try the compact/repair, which didn't make any difference. How do I relink the front end?
