Access Partial Filter

P: 3
I have a database that is going pretty good. The only problem I have been having is using a form to filter a table by description. In the table I have Part Number, description, vendor, utilized on, min, max, and ex. I want to be able to have my form filter the table by using the description, but I don't want the user to have to type in the complete description. If they are looking for a part number and happen to know it is some kind of 2" pipe, I want all of the results related to 2" pipe to show up. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have been at this one for days.

Your criteria should be something like
"where Description Like """ & [the entered description] & """*"

Using Like and adding an asterisk to their entry will give you what you want.

Hey thanks for helping me. I had tried something like that. I even put in what you said and it still came up with a syntax error. This is what I have:

SELECT [Original Table].[Part Number], [Original Table].Description, [Original Table].Vendor, [Original Table].[Royal Number], [Original Table].[Storage Location], [Original Table].[Utilized On], [Original Table].Min, [Original Table].Max, [Original Table].Ex
FROM [Original Table]
WHERE Description Like """ & [Please Enter the Description] & """*";

Any help from there would be great.

Thanks Again,

Where it says "please enter the Description" I want that to be coming from an input text box on the form, or a pop up box from the query
