How to attach as Source control to a checkbox in a form

Ok, I am pretty horrible in access and I could really use someone's help before I completely mess up my boss' database. I'm sure this is a stupid question but here goes: I am trying to add a label with a check box bound to it. I added it, and every time I click the check box on one person's file, it clicks that box for every person in my database. I went in to the properties of the checkbox, and it didn't have a control source set like all of the boxes already set up, so I went to add a control source, but the label that I want to be the control source is not in the drop down menu.

How do I add a label to the control source menu to tie to my check box? Is that going to fix my problem of having it automatically check on every person's sheet when I only want it checked on a few?

If you add a column in the table that contains your data and set that column to have a data type of yes/no then set the control source to that column.
