MSySCompactError

I'm using Access '07 on a XP Pro system. I have my data files saved on a USB flashdrive that I don't ever remove from the desktop.
I was working on the files in Access today and issue arose. I restarted Access only to find that all my files are gone.
When I open my old file location, it says "MSysCompactError" also a window comes up and lists many errors with the same error code as -1907.

Please help I'm so frustrated...

Were these data files you had linked to the access database? I'm not sure what you mean by data files.

The error seems to have occured during a rountine compact and repair. Can you see a file in the folder that contains the Access file called something like db1?

When access does a compact and repair it creates a copy of the database (hence the db1). If it can't complete the routine the copy is usually not deleted.

The best I can tell you about error 1907 is that it appears to be a system rather than a vba error. It appears to have something to do with the office application not being able to find certain system fonts it needs to operate.

Allen Browne discuses the known Access 2007 bug Mary is talking about here

http://allenbrowne.com/Access2007.html#Bugs

about 3/4 of the way down the page; you'll see a box with red printing. He gives some ways to deal with the problem as well as the service pack/hotfix that addresses the problem, I believe.

It should also be noted that the Access Gnomes absolutely hate flash drives! Access forums are replete with stories of unrecoverable corruption of databases including...yes, that's right, disappearing databases!

Good luck!
