Desktop Icon changes name!

344 Expert 100+
This is a strange one. I am running MS-Access 2003, under Windows XP and have many desktop shortcuts, used to pick up the correct mdw file.

An example would be called "Champion System" and have the following property
""C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" c:\champion\championCode.mdb /wrkgrp z:\champion\champion.mdw"

I have never had a problem with these, but now, somehow, on 2 PCs out in India, when the user logs out of Access, the Desktop Icon name has changed from "Champion System" to "abcdefg" where abcdefg is the user's Access Password.

I cannot reproduce this on my systems here in London, and we are having no problems in our other locations, just these 2 pcs in Hyderabad.

Has anybody seen anything like this, or have any idea what is causing it. (A fix would be even better)

Never heard of anything like it.
Would start by doing a virus scan, and if possible copy over a fresh .mdb & mdw and see if it still happens. Something that exposes your password kinda sounds like a virus/trojan horse to me.

They only have one mdw, on the server. They would have to create all the accounts from scratch but that is an option. I have asked them to run a virus scan.
