Creating Access DB based on FileMaker DB - Calculated Fields Question

I am new to Access 2007, a former FileMaker Pro database user.

I am trying to replicate some functionality that was available in the FM DB, which involved Calculated Fields in one of the Tables.

The Calculation would evaluate the dates in some of the other fields in the table and return a numerical result. Filemaker used a Case calculation.

I need to replicate this functionality in my new Access 2007 DB on one of the forms.

This is what the FM calculation looked like:

Status=Calculation (Number) Unstored, = Case (
(Finish <> "");1;
(Projected_Start="") and (Start="");0;
(Projected_Start <= Get(CurrentDate)) and (Start="");5;
(Projected_Finish <>"") and (Projected_Finish <=Get(CurrentDate));4;
(Start <>"") and (Start <= Get(CurrentDate));3;
2
)

The numbers it calculates here call a symbol which indicates what stage a project is at.

Can anyone tell me how to do this in Access? I'm very new to VB and Access, but all of my research has not found me the answer.

I've tried SELECT CASE statements, IF ELSEIF statements, even a query but I could really use some expert advise.
