About the Office Pro 2007 Trial version: I don't want to upgrade by download

I hope this is an OK Q for this site?

I'm 2/3 of the way through my 60 day trial of Office Pro 2007. I do want to get a full licence, BUT I'd much rather buy it on memory sticks or CDs and install it myself, and not only because it's slightly cheaper from PC World.

If I don't upgrade from the trial via MS website, does anyone know what will happen at the end of the trial period? Will some "Wizard" step in and sort out getting my trial version OFF my system when the trial licence expires? Or ... what? I keep trying to find a (free) way of asking Microsoft about this, but I can't find any help line that doesn't want loads-a-money off me.

I doubt that an uninstall of Office 2007 would reinstall your old Office products.

The documents you created while using your trial should be just fine.

I haven't tried myself, but can't you go:
Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the trial from there?

Yes, I can do that!! What I'm not sure about is ...

... if I leave a time-gap between the end of the trial and installing the new one, I think if I uninstall the trial I will be left with NO Office programs, because (I think ... who knows what goes on during a download?!) the download installation of the trial removed or 'deregistered' or whatever my original Office Home. I had just a little thought that maybe if MICROSOFT removed my trial version it just MIGHT put my old Office Home back into working order????

I like programming because I know what I and the machine are 'thinking' (most of the time) but I hate messing about with the opsy and its wicked ways because I never have any idea what it's 'thinking' or how to tell it what I think!!

Keep smiling!

Yep, I guess that sums it up. Thanks. I'll just go buy the 'real thing' on a plastic card if I can't afford it straight away! One reason I'd like to put it off a little while is so they have time to upgrade Outlook 2007 to make it load/run a bit faster.

I don't know how to say "ok, let's close this discussion". I guess you have to do that bit? I'm still fathoming out the intricacies of how this site works ... but it's a wonderful source of support to a lone programmer out in the sticks.

You dont as such close a thread in this forum. What you can do (if appropriate) is to choose a "Best answer" if that answer has a solution to the original question. Im not really sure if any of these anwers qualifies :P

As long as you indicate you are happy with whatever answers you've got that's fine Juliet. I've selected an answer for you in this case, as it seemed to be the point where you were reassured, but though that's helpful, it's not necessary in all cases.

Typically, threads are only closed when there is a problem in them. Old threads are simply that. Old threads. They are not closed to potentially relevant comments being posted at a later date, and they are available for people to search through when they are having similar problems to what you've had.

Though there are many questions posted, and various resources to answer new ones, most of our traffic is actually members, and the general public, using it as an archival resource for finding their questions already answered.
