Report totals for the various MS ACCESS versions

I am trying to produce study notes for ACCESS, and for many days I am stuck trying to produce totals and subtotals for table ‘Order Details’ from ‘Northwind Sample Access Database’. The fact that I am working in two locations and using two versions of ACCESS has made it clear that there is no webpage that lists clearly, step by step, the procedure, by ACCESS version.

In ACCESS 2000 I have unsuccessfully applied the code in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/208850
From the results it seems that the only functions that produced results are the ones that initialize the subtotals and grand total, and those that extract them. Where the incremental totals should be read #Error

For ACCESS 2003 I have applied with some amendments
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/HA011224441033.aspx

For some reason I cannot read the totals from the sub report. The text box reads #Name?
I have checked the main and sub reports for duplicate names and could not find any.

Please help.

Hi Peter,

I think you will get more help with your question from the Access experts. VB.NET experts are unlikely to be able to help you with your problem.

I've moved your question to the Access forum.

Happy coding!

Just to be clear, do you have a subreport, or group footers where you want subtotals? The instructions on both of these pages seem to work fine for 2007, and I don't see where there would be any problems in previous versions.
