Access 2007 and Office 2000

Can I install Access 2007 whilst keeping Office 2000 on a PC and are there any problems with Office 2000 apps and Access 2007 if I do so? I would uninstall Access 2000 if that helped.

Welcome Tony,

You shouldnt have any problem with installing Access 2007 standalone onto your system. The only "problem" you might have is switching between both versions. When you run A2007 after running an older version, it will take a while to reconfigure itself. If I were you I would:

1> Install A2007
2> Backup any older databases you have before working on them in A2007
3> Verify these databases still function correctly before upgrading them / saving them with A2007
4> After a while with no problems, go ahead and uninstall your older version if you want

There have been some object library changes, so if you have lots of VBA coding in place, you'll want to verify that A2007 still identifies all your procedures properly. Do a compact/repair or a debug in the VBA editor and smooth out any 'errors' it finds.

I don't really have much to add, other than be careful with the references you use in VBA if you try to interface with any other Office products. Use the oldest one you can find.
