Subform

158 100+
While at it I have another one that has been bugging me to no extent:

I have a work order form,
this work order form has a subform called Work order details,
there is another form attach to that called Task,
and another called task Details,

I been trying to take Task, and Task Detail onto tab pages in order to have a cleaner desktop. any of you know how I can have my forms stay together following on the same ID number but on different pages?

This is not very clearly explained. Are you saying you have a single main form (Work Order) and you'd like three separate subforms, all linked to the main form by a field called [ID] (You will have problems if you call your fields anything so ambiguous as [ID]) where each subform is in a separate page of a Tab control?

I have been using a master form with 3 subforms to keep track of my Work Orders. Lately I been feeling to clear some space on that very charged master form and put the 3 subforms on a tab page of their own to make things clearer.

This is the way the form is set up:

I have a master form with a combo box that filters out my customers with only active work orders.

In turn this combo box updates my subforms that are:

Work Orders
Work Order Details
Tasks
Task detail

These form used to work fine when they were all on the same form and nested within one another. since I separated them to have their own individual page on a tab control I get a parameter error message about my Work Order Detail form (which feeds my Task and task details form)

The link parent and child field are as follow:

[Main form] and [work order form]use the Customer ID as link
the [work order form] and [work order details form] use Work order ID as Link
The [Work order details form] and [task form] use work order detail ID as Link
the [task form] and [task detail form] use task ID as link

I know this is pretty simple to fix but I can't seem to have it work.

I tried putting each ID field on the detail area of the main form and it worked for a while but then suddently Access started to crawl slow as a turtle....

is there a quick fix to this?
thanks

That's fair enough.

You will almost certainly be unable to fix the original post as the time to edit has passed. However, it is perfectly permissable to post it again as a reply and just state clearly that it replaces the original question. We can work with that.

From what I think you are saying you should have some way of distinguishing between each item so you don't get all the info from each one.

Work Orders
Work Order Details
Tasks
Task detail

A work order for instance would have a name or number that I would look for then the work order details would contain various tasks that need to get done. So I would define a distinguishing name or number for each task, this would allow you to filter things down to the task details that need to be handled. This would allow you to use a combo box or such so you can filter it down to the task detail you need... Do you think this may help resolve your issue?

I meant to post the question in here Jaad. Simply reposting it (as a separate thread) is not recommended. It's actually against our rules.

I assume you were simply trying to follow instructions but got it a little wrong. That way you get by without a warning (We'll forget about the time inconsistency for this one).

I've merged the threads now (as you'll have seen).
