Gents..
I am just looking for ideas as to how to approach the query of DB I am working on.
Basically, it's a database of welding procedures and depending on the metal you choose, appropriate procedure(s) will show up as a link.
I am using parametric query and the search itself is working just fine. I just didn't think about one of the obvious problems.
Overview:
I have a search form based on query with a few combo boxes to allow user(s) to choose the appropriate metals etc.. and once they made the selection, AfterUpdate eevnt runs and return the result(s).
E.g
cboMetal1 --a drop down list for Metal1
cboMetal2 --a drop down list for Metal2 etc.. and show the result(s).
***********************
But the problem is, when it comes to welding, you do not necessarily need to choose the metal in certain order. I may choose "Steel" as my Metal1 and "Copper" as my Metal2 Or vice versa.
As long as those tow metals matches, there should be a procedure for those tow metals because the procedure was made for those metals.
But when I searches it, it will find records only if what I have selected in Metals matches exactly how it was laid out in the table.
So if I select say..."Steel" as Metal1 and "Iron" as Metal2, it matches the record(s) from the table and returns the link.
But if I select "Iron" as Metal1 and "Steel" as Metal2, no record will be found since "Steel" only exist in "Metal1" column.
Any other idea on how I should approach this?
Thanks
Eric
