Access 2002 and Access 1997 on the same machine

P: 1
I currently have Access 2002 on my laptop. Can I install Access 1997 on the
same machine? Has anyone done this and are there any problems?

I'm almost sure that this can easily be done, but first:
  1. If prompted to Remove previously installed Components, select No.
  2. The Application now associated with the *.mdb Extension will be the last Installed Access Version, in your case 1997.
  3. If you wish to Open an Access 2002 Database, you will have to do it within Access 2002.

I currently have Access 98. Access 2000 and Access 2003 installed on the same pc with no problems. I would recommend uninstalling 2002, install 1997 1st, then 2002 (in a different directory of course) and all should be fine. If you add 2003, Bill Gates kindly removes the MS-Office shortcut bar for you and you need to re-install it. I have not tried with 2007 but heard rumours it causes problems
