Creating a button to add a new record and automatically populate a field value

13
Hi,
I have a database where the 'ID' field in a table called 'Clients' has a one to many relationship with 3 other tables. One of these tables is called 'Contacts' which contains a field called 'client id' - this links to the 'ID' field in the 'Clients' table. I have set up a split form for the Contacts and want to be able to add new records and associate them with the correct client. Within the form I have included a field called 'Client Name' from the 'Clients' table and would like to be able to automatically populate the 'client id' field in the 'Contacts' table with the 'ID' from the 'Clients' table when the client name is selected.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
