combo box, use different row source in one combo box

Hi

I have two combo boxes,
first called cmbReason
answers are resricted to 1, 2, 3
second is called cmbDetailedReason

can I have different row source in cmdDetailedReason depending on the result of cmbReason

for example
if cmbReason = 1 row source is TableA
if cmbreason = 2 row source is TableB
if cmbReason = 3 row source is TableC

Change your After Update event for cmbReason. For example,

Private Sub cmbReason_AfterUpdate()
dim strTableName As String
 
   Select Case cmbReason
      Case Is = "1"
         strTableName = "TableA"
      Case Is = "2"
         strTableName = "TableB"
      Case Is = "3"
         strTableName = "TableC"
      Case Else
         exit sub   'or msgbox
   End Select
 
   cmbDetailedReason.RowSource = "SELECT Field1 FROM " & strTableName
 
End Sub

In the Form_Open you may want to set cmbReason = cmbReason.column(0) or cmbDetailedReason.RowSource = "" depending on how you want it to initialize.
