(Database) already opened exclusively by another user...

Hi Folks,

This one is from work!

Running Access 07, usually our default saving format is 2003 - not our fault.
I want to publish a database to our SharePoint system, but the database must be in an 07 format, and I can't save new databases without getting the (above) message. I have tried taking permission of the file, creating a new database and transferring the data across and changing the default format. Nothing works. Once I have made (even a very simple) database, I can't 'Save As', and if I close it and attempt to re-open it I get the (above) message. Here it is in full:

The Microsoft Access database engine cannot open the file <name>. It is already opened exclusively by another user, (no, it isn't!), or you need permission to view its data. (Error 3051).

Any ideas?

Thanx

Do you have the appropiate permissions to publish the database to your share point?

Yeah, I've got permission to publish to SharePoint - I'm one of the SharePoint admins. Also, if i build a database at home, then bring it here to work, I can publish it! So it appears to be something to do with our Access set up here...

If you have the Switchboard running when the db starts, that causes a problem. Disable the Switchboard on Startup, convert the database, re-enable Switchboard. Voila!
