The appending a database number idea sounds fine to me.
You could also create the new tables in your target database so they are
almost identical to your source tables, except that there is a new
autonumber field and the autonumber plus database field is placed into a
separate field. You can then append your tables from the old databases
and they new autonumber field will assign them all a new unique number.
I would create the new IDs in the source databases first, and make sure
that the subtables continue to link correctly with the new IDs. Then you
can append into your target databases without the danger of mixing
records and improper links.
Hope that helps,

We have 3 databases that are just copies of the master.
I have no idea why this is but I need to put them all in one.
They contain a main table and 2 subtables linked one to many.
I am sure that some of the autonumbers are duplicates.
At first I thought of appending a database number to each autoid so
that would make them unique and I would be able to tell from which
database it came.
Should I just append the tables?
Modify the id's and append?
OR ?????
thank you for any guidence in this mess.
