Acc2K - Parse Memo Field into Separate Fields

Hello Again All,

I have a memo field that is backslash delimited. I am attempting to break up this field into individual fields.

Ex (memo field). \John L. Doe\\StreetName RD\\City, Pa 11111
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. To look like this:
  2. John L. Doe          StreetName RD         City, Pa 11111
  3.
I have been using this function in a query which, works fine if that part in the memo field is always constant i.e. company name.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. right(left[tablename],instr(x, [tablename],"\")-1,x)   'where x is an integer
  2.
How can I parse, say the customer name, being that it's never a constant length?

Hi, Bender.

You may use Split() function to parse substrings easily.
